Film sets offer all the contagion risks of other multi-employee work environments, and with the added risks of necessary physical proximity and interaction. Social distancing is impossible when applying hair and make-up, wardrobe fittings, offloading equipment, huddling around a camera, pinning a mic to an actor, or piling into a 15-passenger van to get to the next location. No shows...expenses etc...

As theaters across the U.S. shut down, studios are experimenting with releasing on-demand, but for tentpoles "the math really doesn't work."

As the global coronavirus pandemic has shut down movie theaters around the world, the film business faces a potentially transformative question: Should studios hold movies for a later, indefinitely postponed theatrical release or make them available as online attractions now?

While NBCUniversal and Sony Pictures are offering films on a pay-per-view basis, media analyst Rich Greenfield says “they're doing this out of complete distress and as some kind of unique learning experience rather than as a shift in strategy.”

Netflix Friday announced it was stopping all production nationwide and in Canada for at least two weeks. In Georgia, that includes “Stranger Things” the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson/Gal Gado/Ryan Reynolds film “Red Notice” and the reality series “Prank Encounters.”.

BUT many are still filming...about 12-15,

“I'll use a sports analogy,” since in theory it's much like the movie/tv industry. “The studio or whoever finances the movie is the team owner. The director is the coach. The star is your star athlete. And the producer is the general manager. If you use any professional team  as an example, It's the general manager and the coach that puts it all together, while mostly staying in the background.” But still get the Oscar when it all works out. And just like

sports, sometimes it does, and sometimes it does not. :(
