Georgia-born Ray Charles to join Country Music Hall of Fame

Charles' showed the commercial potential of country music with his iconic recordings in the 1960s.
NASHVILLE, Tennessee — R&B legend Ray Charles, who helped redefine country music in the Civil Rights era, and Grammy-winning duo The Judds will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The Country Music Association on Monday announced the new class of Hall of Fame members, who will be formally inducted in a ceremony in 2022.

During fiscal year 2021, pent-up demand from the COVID-19 hiatus helped the industry set a new record with $4 billion in direct spending on productions in the state.
