EVEN THIS GUY GETS NERVOUS AROUND 'BEYONCE'.

Channing Tatum gets animated during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing on Thursday (January 28) from Los Angeles.
The 35-year-old Hateful Eight star opened up about getting Beyonce to join him on stage for Lip Sync Battle“I had never met her before. I won’t even tell you what I had to do to essentially get her assistant’s phone number. Or text her I was texting her,” Channing said. “I didn’t even have the intention of her coming. It was a whole ploy to get permission to do something cause I had gotten it through the grapevine that Jenna [Dewan Tatum, his wife] was gonna bring out Paula [Abdul] and I was like hmm who can I bring out, I know Beyonce‘s not gonna come so I wanted to bring like a cardboard cut out of Beyonce out just to be funny and then ultimately I ended up having to meet Beyonce doing Beyonce and that was definitely the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done.”
In case you missed it, watch the video of Channing and Beyonce dancing together!

WHY BE AN ACTOR?

WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT TO BE AN ACTOR?

Everyone has always wanted to be the people they see on the stage and screen. Those people lead exciting lives compared to our boring ones. Those people are witty and urbane and we a dull and bucolic. Unfortunately the general public does not realize that movies and tv are just illusions and the actors are not the same people as the roles they play, that acting is tiresome, demanding work. Out of the thousands and thousands of those wannabes, there are actually some that really do want to pursue the craft, the art.
So then what's next? Sit at home and wait for the knock on the door by a director or producer. Tyler Perry maybe. Or more realistically, go do something about it on your own. It's going to involve study, preparation, photos and a lot of research to make sure you are actually talking to someone that knows what the heck they are talking about. It's more than likely 'not' your best friend or 'your neighbor', and it is certainly not some modeling school in your home town.
If acting was all that easy, why do college's and universities have major's in Theater and Drama? Why do actors even have to rehearse for a play or a scene? The same reason that soldiers go through training and athletes work out everyday? To get prepared that's why.
And remember this fact. The people that care for you the most are the exact ones most likely to point you in the wrong direction. Because
they love you and are trying to help. However they rarely know anymore than you about the process. Do your own research, before you proceed.
It's an exciting time to be an actor, either established or just getting started, right here in Atlanta. Number two in film production in the USA.
Movies and tv shows being filmed everyday, right here. Major studios already here and more being built. If you want to realize your dream, get up and go do something about it.

ZAC EFRON!!

ZAC EFRON
"No matter who you are, you face challenges growing up," he says. "You go with your things, you learn, you have to. It's impossible to lead an honest and fulfilling life as a man and not make mistakes and 'fess up to them when you need to. But it's especially humiliating when they happen to be so public and so scrutinized."
He pauses. "When you have success young, and you accept the good things, you have to accept all of it. You have to accept the moments of glory but also a great responsibility. And that responsibility, to some degree, involves being a role model. At the same time, I'm a human being, and I've made a lot of mistakes. I've learned from each one."
Especially the substance abuse thing. That's all over now, go see DIRTY GRANDPA, PLEASE.
ZAC IS 28 YRS OF AGE AND BEGIN ACTING ABOUT 13 YRS AGO, AS A SINGER ACTOR.

You didn't get the part?

SO, YOU DIDN'T GET THE PART?
HERE MIGHT BE A FEW REASONS WHY NOT.

Yes, I’m writing about why you DIDN’T get the part. Yes, even though your audition was amazing and you were totally on your game and you lit up the room with creative acting genius, you still might not get the part. I know, I know…you’re probably thinking, but Reynolds you are mostly positive. So what's up
First, it’s not negative to understand why you didn’t get a job because it will free your mind of all that monkey-mind chatter that happens when you find out you didn’t get it. Second, and this is the important part so pay attention, it doesn't matter. By the end of this article, I hope you understand that.
Since this is one of the most frequently asked questions I receive and the one that hangs you up the most and twists you into knots as an actor and a creative being, let’s get into it.
Based on my years and years of experience as a casting director and an agent in film and television, these are some of the reasons you didn’t get the part.
1. You’re too tall.
2. You’re too short.
3. You’re too pretty.
4. You’re not pretty enough.
5. You’re too fat.
6. You’re too thin.
7. You’re too blonde.
8. You’re not blonde enough.
9. You’re too old.
10. You’re too young.
11. You’re too serious.
12. You’re too funny.
13. You look too much like the lead.
14. You don’t look enough like the lead.
15. You’re taller than the lead.
16. You’re shorter than the lead.
17. You remind the producer of his sister, and he hates his sister.
18. You are too ethnic.
19. You are not ethnic enough.
20. You were the first one to read that day.
21. You were the last one to read that day.
22. You’re more like the best friend than the lead.
23. You’re more of a lead than the best friend.
24. You’re too character-y.
25. You’re not character-y enough.
26. You look like the director’s wife and he had a fight with his wife right before he left the house this morning.
Okay, this is a small sample of the some of the reasons you didn’t get the part. Have you heard any of these after one of your non-bookings? Can you tell what the one common thread is among this small sampling of reasons?
None of these are within your control. NONE.
Yes, of course there are many other things that are within your control and we will definitely get into those in a future article. But these are the ones that drive you crazy. Right?
What you must understand is that your only job in an audition is to do your best work. Everything else is not up to you. The role you are reading for is one piece of an entire jigsaw puzzle. It must fit with the rest of the puzzle or the puzzle won’t work. The casting director, producer, and director are fitting pieces of the puzzle together all day long. Your only job is to be the best “piece” you can be. Whether your edges fit in the slot for that piece is not up to you.
Just go to your audition. Do your best and let it go. If you’re good, they will remember you. And the next time you hear one of those things, remember these words, let a knowing smile creep over your face, and go enjoy your day!

And don't give up
up

GOOD LUCK

Not considered smart...

Channing Tatum: 'I Have Never Considered Myself a Very Smart Person'

Channing Tatum never thought of himself as intellectual – he struggled with ADHD and dyslexia in school.

"I have never considered myself a very smart person, for a lot of reasons," he tells T, The New York Times Style Magazine. And that made his teen years difficult.

"Not having early success on that one path messes with you," he admits. "You get lumped in classes with kids with autism and Down syndrome, and you look around and say, 'Okay, so this is where I'm at.' Or you get put in the typical classes and you say, 'All right, I'm obviously not like these kids either.' So you're kind of nowhere. You're just different."

He believes "the system is broken. If we can streamline a multi-billion-dollar company, we should be able to help kids who struggle the way I did."

Now, as a top-earning actor and Hollywood producer (who made millions when Magic Mike became a smash hit), the 34-year-old credits
acting and the arts for helping him 'break out'.
Well now we all know who he is. He's not a lot different than a lot of others. Believe me, there are very, very few 'NATURAL ACTORS"
if any. Go to work on your chosen craft and don't wait for someone else to open the door and 'pull you in'.
Good luck,

Don't think it is Easy!

Jamie Foxx  (DON'T THINK THIS IS EASY, GET YOURSELF PREPARED)

For his Academy Award winning performance in "Ray," portraying music legend Ray Charles, Foxx chose to  fully envelope himself in his character. He wore prosthetic eyelids 15 hours a day while filming. He learned to rely on others to assist him and to trust in his other senses. Before he was an actor he was a musician. He began studying piano at age 5
He and Samuel L Jackson had to assist Leonardo DeCaprio get into character for playing a slave owner in Dejango because Leonardo
had a difficult time being such a person.

Your Skill Level...

FOR SOME, BEING AN 'EXTRA' IN A FILM IS BELOW THEIR DIGNITY OR SUPPOSED 'SKILL LEVEL

JOHNNY DEPP, YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF HIM. QUIT HS, PLAYED IN A BAND, GOT MARRIED TO
A 25 YR OLD MAKE UP ARTIST WHEN HE WAS 20, AND MOVED TO LA WITH HIS NEW BRIDE.

A year later, Depp fell into acting when his wife introduced him to her exboyfriend, actor Nicolas Cage. Cage saw potential in Depp, and introduced the hopeful musician to a Hollywood agent. After several small roles as a film extra, ( DID YOU GET THAT?) Depp landed his first legitimate movie role in the horror film Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). By 1985, the Kids had broken up—and so had Depp's marriage. After his split with Allison, Depp met actress Sherilyn Fenn, whom he met on the set of the short film, Dummies (1985). The couple dated, and were briefly engaged, but split shortly after. After their break-up, Depp then met and proposed to actress Jennifer Grey; their romance was also short-lived. Depp started to study acting in earnest, first in classes at the Loft Studio in Los Angeles and then with a private coach. The lessons paid off in 1987, when he replaced actor Jeff Yagher in the role of undercover cop Tommy Hanson in the popular Canadian-filmed television series 21 Jump Street. The role thrust Depp into almost immediate stardom. He became a teen idol overnight; a title that he greatly resented. When his contract on Jump Street expired in 1989, he lept at the opportunity to pursue weightier roles. {AND NOW THE REST IS HISTORY} CONSISTENTLY ONE OF THE HIGHEST PAID ACTORS IN THE WORLD.
IN OUR NEXT POST WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT ANOTHER YOUNG ACTOR THAT STARTED HERE WITH NOTHING IN JUNE 2015 AND JUST GOT THE LEAD ROLE IN A NEW CABLE TV SERIES.
WATCH FOR THIS.

Audition Advise!

SOME SAGE ADVICE FOR YOU ON YOUR AUDITION

1. Where are you? Remember to take a moment before you begin the audition to establish in your imagination exactly where you are. The environment is a crucial stimulus. It takes a brief moment to orient yourself into the place. Without that connection it can sometimes be very hard to see anything other than the audition room.
2. What is your relationship? You should have a good sense of who you are speaking to and what they mean to you. While this sounds like it should be obvious, many actors don’t make a strong enough choice regarding their feelings about this person, which can lead to a weak objective in the piece. As soon as the objective weakens, the moments become less important.
3. What is happening? Consider the event of your scene as the headline of a newspaper. What is the main event? The essence of what is going on. The most important thing occurring at this time. Knowing this keeps you from veering off the through line of action in the scene. It also continues to remind you of what you are here to do. This, of course, will be the most important thing to remember.
4. Where are you coming from? Emotionally and physically. What just happened to you to cause the first moment of your scene? Something should already be going on in you before you begin. The first moment is yours whether you have the first line or not. You must always be coming from something and going to something.
5. What are you doing? Your character is there to do something. This something must be active, it must support your objective, and it must lead to another thing to do after another thing to do. It must push the scene forward. Otherwise you are playing words and not actions. Emotional actions drive your scene forward.

Get noticed in 2016

If you teach acting on any level and it is related to production and casting plays, or movies/tv then you know that when the cast list goes up there’s bound to be elation, disappointment, anger, and jealously, as well as many other emotions, including Aristotle’s cathartic duo of pity and fear.
If you’re involved as a teacher/director in a theatre or acting program, you may need to handle questions about casting. That is if you elect to do so. If your focus is on mentoring in any fashion, when an actor comes in to talk to you about casting, you’ll want to be frank, honest, professional, kind, and instructive regarding what I call The Actor’s Dilemma.
When a young actor goes on an audition most times they will 'not' get the part they actually wanted. It's probably a lesser role. And there is usually more than one reason. You didn't have the desired look, maybe you simply couldn't handle the top spot etc. But, rest assured 'YOU ARE THERE' AND YOU ARE WORKING'.
While you may be a little disappointed you should also be happy. Maybe even super happy. Many great acting careers were spawned by a small role in a film. But you GOT NOTICED.
Good luck in 2016
