WHY BE AN ACTOR?

WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT TO BE AN ACTOR?

Everyone has always wanted to be the people they see on the stage and screen. Those people lead exciting lives compared to our boring ones. Those people are witty and urbane and we a dull and bucolic. Unfortunately the general public does not realize that movies and tv are just illusions and the actors are not the same people as the roles they play, that acting is tiresome, demanding work. Out of the thousands and thousands of those wannabes, there are actually some that really do want to pursue the craft, the art.
So then what's next? Sit at home and wait for the knock on the door by a director or producer. Tyler Perry maybe. Or more realistically, go do something about it on your own. It's going to involve study, preparation, photos and a lot of research to make sure you are actually talking to someone that knows what the heck they are talking about. It's more than likely 'not' your best friend or 'your neighbor', and it is certainly not some modeling school in your home town.
If acting was all that easy, why do college's and universities have major's in Theater and Drama? Why do actors even have to rehearse for a play or a scene? The same reason that soldiers go through training and athletes work out everyday? To get prepared that's why.
And remember this fact. The people that care for you the most are the exact ones most likely to point you in the wrong direction. Because
they love you and are trying to help. However they rarely know anymore than you about the process. Do your own research, before you proceed.
It's an exciting time to be an actor, either established or just getting started, right here in Atlanta. Number two in film production in the USA.
Movies and tv shows being filmed everyday, right here. Major studios already here and more being built. If you want to realize your dream, get up and go do something about it.
