The temperate climate, allowing for year-round shooting, as well as the varied aesthetics of the towns, cities and mountains of the region have been cited as the main reasons producers are choosing Georgia over anywhere else. Also, NON UNION RIGHT TO WORK STATES === MUCH, MUCH CHEAPER TO FILM.

The Southern state of Georgia is famous for peaches, Coca-Cola and the city of Atlanta, which has the busiest international airport on the planet. But now it's overtaken Hollywood to become the biggest film-producing market in the world.

Keke Palmer’s new film “Alice,” which follows the story of a 19th century enslaved Black woman who escapes to freedom only to discover it’s the 1970s and Black people are free, is not sitting too well with some critics who believe the movie is glorifying the trauma Black people have endured as a result of years of chattel slavery and racism. 

While talking to People about the upcoming drama thriller, the 28-year-old defended her role and the movie’s importance, clarifying that “It’s not trauma porn. It’s like, ‘This happened. Let’s show you how our people found hope.’”

More than three dozen burglaries have occurred at metro Atlanta companies that rent cameras, lighting and other equipment to Hollywood productions, a key part of Georgia's economy.

Driving the news: The crimes have frustrated filmmakers and left law enforcement puzzled. Now, Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond wants metro Atlanta law enforcement to create a task force to catch the bandits. >>>Details: Since 2021, more than 40 burglaries at 30 different production equipment warehouses and buildings across metro Atlanta have resulted in more than $2 million in losses, Bond says. In some of the crimes, the burglars went straight for rooms where top-dollar equipment is stored, according to a spreadsheet listing the burglaries attached to the legislation.

I too have had my offices/studio broken into and had a very expensive video camera stolen. Fortunately the burglar went to the same equipment store that I purchased it from ( I reported the theft to them) to purchase a piece of equipment that he broke during the theft, and was arrested on the spot...:)
