ELVIS AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY

IN MY OPINION;

WILLIAM REYNOLDS;

ELVIS AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY>> FIRST PERFORMANCE = NOT SO GOOD!!

Elvis Presley's influence was enormously important to both rock and country music, but the iconic singer suffered through a humiliation at the Grand Ole Opry early in his career.>>Before Presley was considered the King of Rock and Roll, he was called the King of Western Bop. His early records drew a lot from rockabilly for their sound -- a style of music that was essentially a souped-up form of bluegrass fused with a more aggressive rhythm track.>>Elvis took that style of music to the Opry on Oct. 2, 1954, but far from revolutionizing the music world with his hip-shaking performance and dynamic new sound, the King bombed so badly at his first Opry show that after hearing his rendition of "Blue Moon of Kentucky," Opry talent manager Jim Denny reportedly told him he should go back to his day job as a truck driver.>>GOOD THING HE DIDN'T LISTEN,,RIGHT?

WONDERFUL YEAR FOR THE MOVIES

IN MY OPINION;
WILLIAM REYNOLDS;
WONDERFUL YEAR FOR THE MOVIES, AND ATLANTA IS NUMBER ONE IN THE USA..
Total box office revenue for 2018 is expected to exceed $11.8 billion by year’s end, a 6.1 percent jump on last year, and an all-time record for an industry that was almost written off last year after failing to match 2016’s $11.3 billion haul.
The uptick is also unprecedented, given the extent to which Netflix and Amazon have moved into the theatrical movie business, posting films immediately online or in tandem with cinema releases.>>
>>While quality of content remains the driving factor for movie attendance, improved cinema seating and food may also have lured audiences to theaters.
>>Even President Donald Trump may have had an effect on ticket sales, with audiences seeking to escape the news cycle.<<

Congratulations are in order for Terrence Howard!
The Empire star proposed to his ex-wife, Mira Pak, over the holidays.
The actor popped the question with a stunning engagement ring. The rose gold sparkler contained a seven-carat VVS diamond in a "Ben Baller Setting."

WHEN WAS JESUS REALLY BORN?

IN MY OPINION;
WILLIAM REYNOLDS:

WHEN WAS JESUS REALLY BORN?

The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (he was the first Christian Roman Emperor). A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on the 25th December.
BUT scholars say that the actual date is not really known, but somewhere 'around' that date.

WORLD BOX OFFICE>>

IN MY OPINION:
WILLIAM REYNOLDS:

WORLD BOX OFFICE>>

"Aquaman," the latest DC superhero film from Warner Bros., nabbed a $67.4 million three-day weekend in North America. That gives the undersea hero -- played by Jason Momoa -- the US box office crown for the weekend and adds to the film's already huge global total.
"Aquaman" has so far made $482.8 million worldwide after opening internationally earlier this month. That includes a whopping $232 million in China, the world's second largest movie market.
Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns," took second place in the weekend box office with a $22.2 million haul. The sequel to the 1964 Disney classic, which stars Emily Blunt as a magical nanny has so far made $51.3 million around the world.

Wedding bells?

IN MY OPINION:
WILLIAM REYNOLDS

Wedding bells?

Travis Scott opened up about his relationship with Kylie Jenner and admitted that the couple will likely be saying “I do” in the near future.

“We’ll get married soon,” Scott, 26, told Rolling Stone in an interview that was released on Thursday, December 20. “I just gotta sturdy up — I gotta propose in a fire way.”

The rapper explained that his romance with the 21-year-old reality star started off as a fling (they connected at Coachella in April 2017), but quickly became serious.

Plus I believe he just signed on to be on the Super Bowl halftime show.

MORE HOLLYWOOD STUFF

IN MY OPINION:

WILLIAM REYNOLDS:

MORE HOLLYWOOD STUFF>>>
From the Hollywood Reporter>>>

Talent alone isn’t enough (work ridiculously hard, leverage your network, play the game a bit…)

There’s an old saying that says, “The cream rises to the top.” When it comes to the entertainment industry, that doesn’t happen without a ton of work and rejection behind it. I recently attended a Writers Guild of America event during which the Q&A session was filled with questions grilling a successful TV writer about how they broke into the industry. Their answer: Years and years of hard work — and setbacks. You have to be in it for the long haul.
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get noticed these days — you just have to be creative with it. You can fund your passion project on Kickstarter, but you need actually follow through with it. You can put your webseries or vlogs on YouTube and, well, pray for a viral moment. You can enter all the film festivals and screenwriting competitions, but beware that costs will add up and you may not even place in the quarterfinals. You need to network, network, network, and find that person who thinks you have potential and is willing and capable of pointing you in the proper direction.
However, that does not erase the working hard part, for both actors, directors, writers, even the talented crew members.

HOMELESS IN HOLLYWOOD???

IN MY OPINION:
WILLIAM REYNOLDS:

HOMELESS IN HOLLYWOOD???

The entertainment industry, one of the city's biggest and most capricious employers, counts a number of car dwellers like musicians and actors among its workforce. Though the precise figure is unknown, it's a small but visible population. Of the 45 or so people hosted each night by Safe Parking L.A. — an organization that launched in 2016 and opened its first facility this year providing guarded, secret lots for vehicle dwellers to sleep in — an actor and a couple of part-time production or lighting professionals usually show up, founder Scott Sale says. Though LAHSA does not survey professions in its annual Homeless Count, community engagement manager Jonathan Hans says entertainment-industry types are a familiar group: "Especially within our younger population, it's not necessarily uncommon that a group of young kids came out [to L.A.] because somebody told them that they would get them a record deal and then they ended up living out of their van," he says. Many now-well-known industry figures — Tiffany Haddish, Chris Pratt, Drew Carey, Kelly Clarkson — have said they lived in their car before rising to fame.

JOHN LENNON>> REMEMBER HIM??

IN MY OPINION:
WILLIAM REYNOLDS:

JOHN LENNON>> REMEMBER HIM??

Thought for Today: “The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that. Unknown is what it is. Accept that it’s unknown and it’s plain sailing.” — John Lennon (1940-1980).

NO GRAMMY FOR TAYLOR SWIFT???

IN MY OPINION:
WILLIAM REYNOLDS;

WHAT??/ NO GRAMMY FOR TAYLOR SWIFT???
                                         – "Here lies Taylor Swift's reputation—or at least the final nail in the coffin of her Reputation era." So writes Brittany Spanos in a Rolling Stone piece that mulls the singer's Grammy nomination "snub": no mention of the album or its singles except one lonely listing in the Best Pop Vocal Album Category. Consider that Reputation was 2018's top-selling album and its fourth single, "Delicate," became "a sleeper hit this year" and "a massive radio hit." Plus Swift is a Grammy darling, the youngest artist ever to snag Album of the Year with Fearlessat age 20 and the first woman to win twice when 1989 triumphed in 2016. So wither the love? >>>>>>>> OK, Reputation was dark and different. And it wasn't released in time for the 2018 Grammys, so it had to wait a year.
