They want that journey of exploration and ongoing discovery more than they want anything else. And that is at the minimum equally true for directors.

Yes, many actors have big egos. It’s a self-protection mechanism because acting requires you to be so exposed and vulnerable. But many actors are often simultaneously extremely humble and they deserve much more respect for what they do and what they give than they often receive.
