TRAINING or No training?

DO ACTORS REALLY NEED TRAINING????

To act you need to know how to take the words on a page and make them 'ACTIVE", as if they were spoken by a person pursuinga goal and 'not' as if they are vehicles for "FAKE EMOTING" in poetry recitals.
Marcus Geduid artistic director Classical Theatre NYC.

You need to know how to listen with our whole being and respond without thinking. How to move your body, how to prepare. What's expected of you.
Is this automatic without having studied?  No, no it's not.
Do you have to audition with and against those that are trained, that have studied? Yes, absolutely.

We have talent come in to see us about representation that have everything. They are ready.
They are prepared. But we also have some new talent come in to see us about representation that have done nothing and expect everything. Why is that? Because someone at the mall told them that they have the 'look'. Their friends, parents, neighbors tell them
"Baby you've got it." Yeah right! Unfortunately there are in fact those that come in that are pretty darn sharp. But not enough to compete with others that were also sharp but worked to get better, much better.
This is one of the reasons that our agency many times pays for 'real training' so that you can comptete. These are those that do not have their heads in the clouds.
Don't waste what you have going for you. Do something and do it correctly.
